COVID-19

Current Visitor Restrictions at ThedaCare Locations

At ThedaCare, the first priority is protecting the health and wellness of our patients, team members and visitors.

As we continue to see a decline of COVID-19 cases in our communities, ThedaCare is now in a position to allow additional visitor options throughout the system. For non-COVID patients, visitor restrictions will return to normal, pre-pandemic guidelines.

To ensure safety precautions, no visitors will be permitted for COVID-positive patients, except limited, approved, pre-arranged visitation for end of life. Those situations will be pre-arranged through care teams.

Visitor restrictions and screening guidelines will continue to be assessed on a regular basis.

As of April 24, 2023, mandatory masking at all ThedaCare facilities has been discontinued. For those who wish to continue masking, they are welcome to do so. Please note, masking may be required during some situations.

Restrictions By Location

- Masking is required for patients, visitors and team members who may have respiratory illness or symptoms similar to COVID-19 or Influenza, have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 10 days, and/or who work or live in an are that is experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.
- Patients and guests must wear a mask throughout their visit if the facility is currently experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.
- Please do not visit, or accompany patients, if you are experiencing common COVID-19 symptoms, including: Fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, headache, sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose, etc. Call your primary care provider to direct you to appropriate care. Additional restrictions may be imposed based on the clinical status of the patient or provider judgment.
- Guidelines for visiting a patient in isolation, including those being treated for COVID-19, include:
  - Limit of two visitors at the same time.
  - Visitors should go directly to the patient’s room and remain in the room during the visit, except to use the public restroom.
  - For everyone’s safety, visitors should wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including masks and follow all instructions provided.
  - ThedaCare understands the importance of keeping patients connected with their loved ones while receiving care. To stay connected, patients and families are encouraged to use phone or video chat with anyone who is unable to visit.
- Visitors are permitted.
- Visitors should wear a well-fitting mask while in the facility, during a facility COVID-19 outbreak.
- Please do not visit If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days.
- Please considering deferring non-urgent visitation if you have had close contact with some with COVID-19 in the last 10 days. If you do visit, please wear a mask.
- Visitors with respiratory symptoms should mask while in the facility even if testing negative for COVID-19.
- Visitors should wear a mask if they live or work in an area experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.
- Residents who test positive for COVID-19 may still have visitors, but visitors should take the additional steps while visiting:
  - Do not eat or drink while in the resident’s room.
  - Visitors should use hand sanitizer upon room entry and exit.
  - Physical distancing is encouraged as much as is practical within a resident room.
  - Visitors should stay in resident’s room and leave immediately after visitation is completed. (If they need to talk to a team member about questions concerning the resident’s care after the visit, this is permissible.)
- COVID-19 or Respiratory Symptoms: Two parents/guardians are allowed to accompany a minor, or a patient with a medical need (intellectual and/or developmental disability, cognitive impairment or limited mobility). Visitors should speak with the patient’s clinical team if the patient requires additional assistance.
- Other Emergency Department Patients: Two visitors are allowed to accompany a patient.

- All visitors to Cancer Care or Outpatient Infusion centers must be 12 years or older, unless an exception has been granted in advance of the appointment. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
