Our History

Since 1954, Waupaca residents have enjoyed a wide range of medical services in a beautiful setting that’s conveniently located close to home. It’s care that started in 1921 with the Christofferson Hospital and has evolved to include family birth and 24-hour emergency care, a swing bed program and a variety of therapeutic and rehabilitation services.

Our Community Impact

We believe that a person’s health is not only impacted by the health care system but also the world around them. That is why ThedaCare continues to partner with organizations throughout Waupaca and its surrounding communities to support initiatives that make a difference to individuals and their families, including:

  • Coordinating and empowering community groups to enhance overall health through nutrition and physical activity (Living the Waupaca Way)
  • Providing self-run, self-supported housing for effective alcohol and drug addiction recovery (Oxford House)
  • Supporting exterior home repair and preservation projects for low-income homeowners and community projects to improve and beautify surrounding neighborhoods (Rock the Block/Habitat for Humanity)

Creating Positive Change

Every three years, ThedaCare conducts a health needs assessment of each of our seven hospital markets. Based on the results, plans are created to guide our work and address the most critical health challenges facing these communities we serve.
