Access same day services at the ThedaCare Behavioral Health Walk In Care clinic:
- Moderate to severe psychiatric symptoms, such as depression or anxiety, that need to be assessed and addressed
- Daily activities are a struggle
- Without prompt treatment, symptoms will likely worsen
- Able to tolerate a brief wait in a waiting room

To access inpatient psychiatric care, visit an Emergency Department for assessment and placement:
- Imminent risk to self or others
- Self-harm thoughts and actions
- Thought disturbance resulting in risky behaviors
Call for an Outpatient Appointment:
- Symptoms are mild to moderate
- Daily activities are manageable
- Waiting for a scheduled appointment seems reasonable

Substance Use Disorder counselors care for you if you are struggling with substance use. You’ll learn what triggers your urge to use and how you can develop different coping skills to make healthier choices.
Psychologists use specific assessment tools/tests to help identify or clarify issues related to personality, , attention, impulsivity, attitudes or behaviors and provide diagnosis and recommendations for future treatment.
Neuropsychologists provide care for neurological conditions, diagnosing and treating brain-based conditions due to brain injury, stroke, dementia, or any condition that impacts cognitive functioning, such as attention, learning and memory disorders.
If you have a more serious case of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or other behavioral health disorder, you may be encouraged to participate in our Mental Health Day Treatment program. This intensive program involves structured treatment and therapy to give you the focused support you need.
Inpatient care involves a short-term stay at the hospital. You can receive intensive care in a safe environment to make sure any prescribed medications are working effectively. Our supportive care staff also help you participate in any group therapy or activities that are offered.
Children’s Behavioral Health
ThedaCare Behavioral Health focuses on providing care to individuals 18 years and older. To serve the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents, we have partnered with the specialists at Catalpa Health. Catalpa cares for a variety of emotional, behavioral and mental health concerns in children and teens.
