On Wed., June 3, at 8 am, ThedaCare staff and the general public will gather near the Encircle Health campus on Capitol Drive to watch the uppermost steel beams of the new ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center be lifted into place. This “topping off” ceremony is a modern custom traced back to ancient Scandinavians who placed a tree atop a new building to appease tree-dwelling spirits displaced during construction. The services at the wound care program at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca are growing. The department now offers ostomy care and has extended hours to meet a growing demand for wound care.

ThedaCare was awarded a VHA Sustainability Excellence Award in Las Vegas later this month for its efforts to recycle single-use plastics used in the health care network’s operating rooms, such as blue wrap, plastic containers, and plastic wrappers. ThedaCare today announced Berlin Memorial Hospital will become ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin and Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital will become ThedaCare Medical Center-Wild Rose. The changes will begin to take place in fall of 2015. Both the Berlin-based and Wild Rose-based health systems affiliated with ThedaCare in June 2014. ThedaCare is initiating a system-wide rebranding effort so all of its locations throughout Wisconsin are identified with the same look and feel.
Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca today announced it will become ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca this summer. CEO Craig Kantos said the new name is part of a system-wide rebranding effort that reflects how ThedaCare is redefining better by enriching the patient experience.
ThedaCare welcomes Joelle Mulroy Cluff, PA-C, a certified physician assistant who will serve as a hospitalist at Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center.
ThedaCare is on track to recoup a $1.9 million energy efficiency investment this year, just two years after establishing its department for sustainability in health care. New projects worth $1.5 million will commence in 2015 and be paid off in about two years, said Paul Linzmeyer, sustainability leader for ThedaCare since 2012. His department is charged with helping to improve the health of communities by greatly reducing or eliminating ThedaCare’s energy, waste and water footprint.
On May 20, Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital will close for one day to upgrade its electrical system. The hospital will temporarily be closed from 7 am and will reopen at 7 am on May 21.
Construction will begin this fall to replace the existing Juliette Manor facility in Berlin. On Tuesday, April 21, the ThedaCare Board of Directors gave final approval for the new construction.
