Rehab Therapist Looks Back at 40 Years of Care

When Bryan Cummings began working as a rehabilitation therapist 40 years ago at Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital, he was the only one in Waushara County, which meant he was on the road a lot. “I worked at the hospital here, but also saw patients in nursing homes, the old hospital in Wautoma as well as seeing patients in their own homes,” said Cummings, who retired earlier this month. “You had to specialize in everything because you were it.”

ThedaCare added three new raised flower beds at Appleton Medical Center to grow produce and herbs for use in its hospital cafeterias and educate visitors and other employees about various gardening techniques.

ThedaCare Medical Center Shawano Recruits to Double Hospital Volunteers

The volunteer corps at the new ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano will double in size when hospital staff takes occupancy of the new facility in September, said Elaine Gast, Shawano Medical Center volunteer coordinator. Volunteers will be staffing the new greeter’s desk, which will be entirely separate from the registration desk, and assume more duties in patient transport.

New London Hospital Gets Second National Award

ThedaCare Medical Center-New London was honored for the second year in a row as a Top 20 Best Practices in Financial Stability by the National Rural Health Association.

ThedaCare Statement Regarding Development of Current Shawano Medical Center

This morning Dorothy Erdmann, President/CEO of Shawano Medical Center, released this statement in response to the City of Shawano announcing an agreement on the current Shawano Medical Center building. In 2013, ThedaCare began construction of ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano. The new $50 million facility, planned to open this fall, will replace the 84-year-old Shawano Medical Center and create a local center for convenient, coordinated health care.

Former Patients Rehab Staff Reconnect at Picnic

On Wed., June 17, former rehab patients will gather with hospital staff from 5- 8 p.m. at Jefferson Park in Menasha to celebrate everyone’s achievements at the center’s annual Alumni Picnic. This is the 33rd year the center has hosted the picnic and more than 350 former patients, family members and staff members are expected to attend.

ThedaCare to Hold Topping Off Ceremony at New Regional Cancer Center

On Wed., June 3, at 8 am, ThedaCare staff and the general public will gather near the Encircle Health campus on Capitol Drive to watch the uppermost steel beams of the new ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center be lifted into place. This “topping off” ceremony is a modern custom traced back to ancient Scandinavians who placed a tree atop a new building to appease tree-dwelling spirits displaced during construction. ThedaCare is excited to celebrate the big moment with its staff, community and The Boldt. Co. construction crew.
