Riverside Medical Center will change its name on August 1 to ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca. Exterior signs mark the official transformation.

ThedaCare is once again among the nation’s best when it comes to using technology. “Hospitals & Health Networks” magazine recognized the Appleton-based organization for the 14th year in a row as one of the country’s “Most Wired” hospitals and health systems.
Jennifer Frank, MD, is the new senior medical director for ThedaCare Physicians. She replaces Mark Hallet, MD, who was recently named chief operating officer for Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.
ThedaCare hospital visitors, employees and patients can now eat locally grown fresh produce as part of the health system’s participation in the Northeast WI Food Hub.
ThedaCare has named Jim Matheson new senior vice president of strategic planning and marketing. Matheson, previously vice president of marketing, replaces Jeff Hunter, who retired after 24 years with ThedaCare.
It isn’t often a company refreshes its brand in a truly significant way. It’s a time consuming and sometimes challenging process, and it forces some deep introspection. And as we learned at ThedaCare, it’s also invigorating and affirming.
When Bryan Cummings began working as a rehabilitation therapist 40 years ago at Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital, he was the only one in Waushara County, which meant he was on the road a lot. “I worked at the hospital here, but also saw patients in nursing homes, the old hospital in Wautoma as well as seeing patients in their own homes,” said Cummings, who retired earlier this month. “You had to specialize in everything because you were it.”
ThedaCare added three new raised flower beds at Appleton Medical Center to grow produce and herbs for use in its hospital cafeterias and educate visitors and other employees about various gardening techniques.
The volunteer corps at the new ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano will double in size when hospital staff takes occupancy of the new facility in September, said Elaine Gast, Shawano Medical Center volunteer coordinator. Volunteers will be staffing the new greeter’s desk, which will be entirely separate from the registration desk, and assume more duties in patient transport.
ThedaCare At Work is adding clinical staff to meet the growing needs of its customers at its Appleton clinic. ThedaCare At Work provides businesses with a variety of programs to help improve employee health and productivity.
Mark Hallett, MD, MBOE, has been promoted to chief operating officer for Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.
ThedaCare Medical Center-New London was honored for the second year in a row as a Top 20 Best Practices in Financial Stability by the National Rural Health Association.
