Leading the Way in Surgical Advancements
When you need surgery, the experience can feel vulnerable. Going into a procedure, you want to know you’re safe and in good hands. Afterward, you want to recover with as little pain, disruption, and downtime as possible. Our surgical teams want that for you as well. Innovation and robotic surgery help make those objectives a reality.
ThedaCare began investing in robotic surgery in 2007, with the addition of our first da Vinci surgical robot. Since then, we’ve only continued to enhance robotic surgery capabilities and access. In 2024, we became the first health system in Wisconsin to add the da Vinci 5 surgical robot.
The best part of robotic surgery is the better outcomes it delivers to our patients. These can include shorter hospital stays, fewer complications, faster recovery times, smaller incisions, and less pain.
National Educational Hub
ThedaCare not only leads in offering robotic surgery, but also teaching upcoming surgeons how to use the technology. We’ve developed a national reputation for the excellence of our robotic surgery program. Experts from around the state and country come to learn from our teams.

Our Solutions
Our surgical robots include:
da Vinci Robotic System
Surgeons can use the system for general, bariatric, gynecologic, urologic, and thoracic procedures. We offer da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery at our regional medical centers in Appleton and Neenah and our critical access hospitals in Berlin, Shawano, and Waupaca. Our da Vinci robotic systems include:
- Two da Vinci 5 robotic systems
- Seven da Vinci Xi robotic systems
- Two dual-console da Vinci robotic systems for performing complex procedures
ROSA Knee System
ThedaCare Medical Center-Orthopedic, Spine and Pain offers the ROSA Knee System. The ROSA Knee robot uses data collected before and during surgery to inform surgeons of many details related to the patient’s unique anatomy that may affect their implant fit. This data allows surgeons to plan and carry out a personalized surgery based on individual needs.
Mazor X Stealth Edition Robotic Guidance Platform
ThedaCare Medical Center-Orthopedic, Spine and Pain offers the Mazor X Stealth Edition Robotic Guidance Platform. The Mazor X Platform enhances surgeons’ limited view of patients’ anatomy with 3D surgical plans and analytics. This provides comprehensive information and visualization before the surgery starts, supporting the ability to operate with precision.
CyberKnife
To enhance care options for patients going through cancer treatment, ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center offers the CyberKnife S7 System. The system is a fully robotic device that delivers radiation throughout the body to treat various cancers.
Ion Robotic Bronchoscopy
The Ion robotic-assisted platform allows for minimally invasive lung biopsies that could become a key part of early diagnosis.
