ThedaCare is honored to serve the people of the Oshkosh area, and is committed to inspiring people to live their unique, best lives through easy access to care. As a not-for-profit health system, the organization continually looks for ways to strengthen services and improve the patient experience while advancing the health of the communities it serves.

To ensure access for an increasing demand for comprehensive and coordinated surgery care, ThedaCare will be transitioning services from the ThedaCare Oshkosh Surgery Center, 2400 Witzel Avenue, Oshkosh, to the Ambulatory Surgery Center located at the ThedaCare Oshkosh health campus, 250 West 6th Avenue, Oshkosh. As surgical services continue to move into the new facility, the Witzel Avenue location is expected to support patient care through spring 2027.

“Our goal is to provide patients and families with the best possible surgical experience,” said Kori Krueger, MD, Senior Vice President and President of the North Region Physician Group. “By bringing enhanced services to our new Oshkosh campus, we can offer additional access, advanced technology and modernized facilities in one centralized setting.”

ThedaCare Medical Center–Oshkosh opened in January 2026, and the Ambulatory Surgery Center has been an integral part of the campus vision since the project’s inception. The approximately 114,000-square-foot campus represents an estimated $84 million investment in the Oshkosh community. The location strengthens the trusted relationships ThedaCare has built in the region and ensures seamless access to specialized services through the connected system of care.

Meeting the Growing Demand for Surgery Services

ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh and the Ambulatory Surgery Center were designed to be adaptable, with the opportunity to add more services over time. Demand for outpatient surgery continues to grow, driven in part by an aging population and advances in minimally invasive procedures that allow patients to recover more quickly at home.

“The ambulatory surgery center in Oshkosh will strengthen our ability to deliver high-quality, safe and patient-centered care – ensuring that every person receives the support they need before, during and after their procedure,” said Dr. Krueger. “It will also provide the opportunity to continue meeting the growing needs of the communities we serve.”

The Ambulatory Surgery Center includes various features designed to enhance the experience for patients and families, including:

  • State-of-the-art technology
  • On-site retail pharmacy
  • Lab and imaging services
  • Two dedicated endoscopy suites and four operating rooms
  • Convenient campus design with easy navigation for patients and visitors

In addition, the facility expands access to advanced robotic-assisted surgery. ThedaCare began investing in robotic surgery technology in 2007 with its first da Vinci surgical robot and has continued to grow one of the nation’s leading robotic surgery programs.

Today, robotic-assisted procedures are available at ThedaCare hospitals in Appleton, Berlin, Neenah, Oshkosh, Shawano and Waupaca. The new Oshkosh surgery center includes da Vinci robotic surgery capabilities, allowing patients to benefit from leading-edge surgical techniques that can potentially result in smaller incisions, less pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times.

The transition of services to the new campus creates opportunities to serve more patients, potentially recruit additional specialists and further expand access to advanced surgical care in the area.

“By bringing surgical services to our new campus, we are investing in the future of healthcare in Oshkosh and ensuring our community has access to exceptional surgical care for years to come,” said Dr. Krueger.

Throughout this shift of services, the system is committed to helping coordinate a seamless transition for patients and families. Current patients will be notified and receive appropriate details through patient communication.
