Two regional health care systems are training their personnel on what to do if an active shooter enters their workplace. ThedaCare and Ministry Health Care, which includes Affinity Health System, began training their managers and other leadership in the spring, and rolled out the educational program to other employees. The two health systems employ more than 10,000 people in Northeast Wisconsin.

ThedaCare has hired Joshua Block, MD, a family medicine physician at ThedaCare Physicians–Darboy. Dr. Block has special interest in sports medicine, musculoskeletal illnesses and in-office procedures.
The medical records of patients from Community Health Network (CHN) and Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital will now be accessible electronically to medical providers at ThedaCare, following an electronic health records expansion after the three Northeast health systems affiliated.

Jonah Wagner did something in early February he wasn’t sure was going to happen: He attended a class at the University of Wisconsin‒Oshkosh. Wagner was riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed last August 3 when he wasn’t able to negotiate a curve and his brakes locked up, sending him directly into a fence post.
ThedaCare’s Black Creek-area patients and their families have been consistently served by a combination of nurse practitioners and a part-time physician since the transfer of Dr. Erin Trost from the clinic late last year.

One of ThedaCare At Work Occupational Health’s services to the City of Appleton is management of firefighter surveillance exams, which assess any ill health resulting in the line of duty and also determine an individual firefighter’s fitness for continued duty. A significant amount of detail goes into the exam findings and, with limited time to review results, firefighters usually get a bottom line outcome: ”You pass this year.”
