Mark Hallett, MD, to Provide Clinical, Administrative Leadership on Safety, Quality

ThedaCare has named Mark Hallett, MD, chief clinical officer. In this newly designed role, Dr. Hallett will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative leadership to improve safety and quality as well as physician leadership development throughout ThedaCare.

Dr. Hallett joined ThedaCare in 1993 as medical director of sports medicine for the system’s hospitals. He helped found ThedaCare Orthopedic Care in 2005 and served as its medical director until 2010. In 2008, he added on the role as ThedaCare Physician’s senior medical director. Under his leadership, ThedaCare Physicians received the highest ranking chronic condition and prevention quality scores among primary care physicians in the state, according to the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality.

Greg Long, MD, ThedaCare’s chief medical officer and senior vice president, systems of care, said Dr. Hallett will oversee enhancements to ThedaCare’s electronic health records system, helping medical providers streamline work to make it more manageable. He will also help physician and nursing leadership to spread best practices across ThedaCare so patients receive the best care possible.

“Dr. Hallett’s experience makes him ideally suited for this new role as we strive to improve patient care,” Dr. Long said. “He has experience both as a physician and an administrator so he understands all aspects of how we deliver care to patients.”

Dr. Hallett received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin Medical School and completed his residency in family medicine at St. Paul Ramsay Hospital. He also completed a sports medicine fellowship from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio and a master’s degree in business operational excellence from Ohio State University.
