ThedaCare and Network Health Agree to Coverage Extension

Network Health, the Wisconsin-based health insurance company, and ThedaCare, the Appleton-based community owned health system, have agreed to a contract extension for Network Health members to access ThedaCare providers through December 31, 2016, under the same terms as the current contract with no change in fees for patients.

3D Mammography Available at ThedaCare

ThedaCare recently installed the new 3D mammography machines at the Breast Center inside Encircle Health in Appleton and at the Breast Center at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center -Neenah. Providers may begin ordering 3D mammograms in February on behalf of their patients. The new screening and diagnostic tool is approved for all women who have a standard mammogram.

ThedaCare Opens Deli Inside Encircle Health

Fresh Market Coffee and Deli opened inside Encircle Health at 2500 E. Capitol Drive in Appleton. The 18-seat deli and café operates in a space recently vacated by Copper Rock Coffee Company, an eatery that opened in 2010. The new deli opened last week.

Challenge of Providing Patient Satisfaction in Healthcare

The delivery of healthcare is a strange business. It is a unique business because of a number of factors. These factors include: the patient (or customer) is receiving a service but most of the time is not the one paying the bill; the expectations of the patient for an encounter may differ from those of the provider; the provider of the service cannot guarantee results even when everything was done right; and the provider of the service may provide quality care yet have a dissatisfied customer.

ThedaCare Named as Finalist for 2015 Foster G McGaw Prize for Exemplary Community Service

In recognition of its broad-based efforts to improve the lives of the most vulnerable members of its community, ThedaCare has been named one of four national finalists for the prestigious 2015 Foster G. McGaw Prize, one of health care’s most prestigious honors for excellence in community service. As a finalist, ThedaCare will receive $10,000 to be used to support their community health initiatives.

ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center to Open

Hundreds of thousands of people in urban and rural communities of all sizes in Northeast Wisconsin now have access to premier cancer care north of Milwaukee with the grand opening of the ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center. The cancer center is the latest demonstration of how ThedaCare is committed to redefining better in health care.

ThedaCare Statement Updating the Communities We Serve

We are extremely disappointed and surprised that Network Health Plan leaders were non-committal in our meeting Thursday regarding a contract extension through Dec. 31, 2016. ThedaCare has had an offer on the table for more than a year to extend our contract with Network Health Plan. We urged Network Health Plan to meet earlier on this matter, but they requested a week’s delay. Throughout, we negotiated in good faith, desiring to extend within the existing terms of the contract.

Appleton Medical Center is the first Wisconsin hospital to receive full Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI & Resuscitation Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.
