Purpose
The purpose of this PGY1 pharmacy residency program is to build on doctor of pharmacy education to equip clinical pharmacists with the knowledge base and skill sets needed to excel in our profession.
Outcome
Upon completing our PGY1 pharmacy residency program, pharmacists will be well-equipped to practice clinical pharmacy. Residency graduates will gain eligibility for board certification or for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Site Description
ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton is a 147-bed community hospital specializing in cardiac, oncologic, and orthopedic care. Our inpatient pharmacy is open 24/7. Our pharmacist team delivers decentralized clinical services on the patient care units in addition to traditional medication dispensing services.
Our pharmacists provide clinical services including pharmacokinetic dosing, anticoagulant management, insulin monitoring, renal dose adjustments, medication education, and other therapeutic interventions through various delegated authority protocols. Pharmacists collaborate with other health care practitioners during multidisciplinary patient care rounds. The pharmacists are a part of the code team and respond to medical emergencies on the inpatient units, operating rooms, and emergency departments.
