Safe, Non-Surgical Weight Loss
The ThedaCare Bariatrics team is dedicated to helping you find the weight loss solution that best meets your needs. If you’re seeking a safe, non-surgical way to lose weight, then an intragastric balloon may be the right choice for you. The Orbera® intragastric balloon is a temporary, incision-free way to begin seeing results. During this short procedure, a balloon filled with saline is placed in the stomach to help regulate portion control. To qualify, you must be an adult with a BMI of 28 to 40.

Our experts are ready when you are
Your ThedaCare team will meet with you to discuss your medical history and lifestyle to see if an intragastric balloon is a good fit for you. If you decide to move forward, the balloon will be placed through your esophagus. It will be inserted for up to six months to help take up space in the stomach and slow digestion. During those six months and beyond, you will work with a variety of ThedaCare team members including dietitians, exercise physiologists and behavioral therapists. Together, their goal is to empower you to develop habits that will help you continue your weight loss once the balloon is removed.
Why choose a non-surgical balloon?
The Orbera® intragastric balloon has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a safe solution for weight loss. It is simple to insert and remove. Plus, it does not involve any incisions, stitches or scars. Orbera® reports that the balloon helps patients lose up to 3.1 times the weight compared to diet and exercise alone. It’s important to note that an intragastric balloon is one part of your overall weight loss support journey. When a balloon is used as part of a diet, exercise and behavior modification program, you are more likely to see weight loss results that last.
If you’re ready to make a change, we’re here to help.
