Each day at the new 37-bed Juliette Manor in Berlin, the Boldt construction crew continues to make progress for the targeted completion and move in date of June 9.

Old Hospital Building Materials Put to Good Use

Thousands of dollars’ worth of furniture and building materials from the vacant Shawano Medical Center are being repurposed in the community, said John Gijsen, director of facilities management system locations for ThedaCare. Demolition of the old riverside hospital began on April 4, prior to which Gijsen contacted several Shawano-area governmental units and charities to invite them to remove and re-use furniture and fixtures.

New ThedaCare Hospital Branding Results in New Way Finding

ThedaCare recently changed the names of both of its Fox Cities hospitals – ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton (formerly Appleton Medical Center) and ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah (formerly Theda Clark Medical Center. With the new names and branding comes more clear external and internal way finding. To better help patients navigate their care before they arrive at either hospital, ThedaCare is announcing the new names of key entrances and buildings.

As more and more people learn about the ThedaCare exploration of bringing together our two Fox Cities hospitals into one regional medical center, I’m hearing that folks are open to the possibilities. For example, people are connecting the dots about the integrated nature of our economy, and how a new healthcare destination might benefit businesses throughout the region. One idea that’s frequently mentioned is the value a new regional medical campus contributes to attracting new businesses, and top-notch talent to the area.

Choosing the Right Doctor for You

The May issue of Consumer Reports magazine features ratings that focus on how well doctors provide evidence-based care for patients with high blood pressure and diabetes, and how often doctors provide the right screening tests for colon cancer. The ratings are based on information from the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality.

Construction Nearing Completion for Juliette Manor in Berlin

Tina Marchan, administrator at Juliette Manor in Berlin, is excited about the new 37-bed facility that will be replacing the present Juliette Manor that has been in the downtown Berlin location since 1964. The current Juliette Manor was the original Berlin Hospital built in 1935.

Appleton Medical Center Becomes ThedaCare Regional Medical Center Appleton

ThedaCare today announced that Appleton Medical Center becomes ThedaCare Regional Medical Center- Appleton on Wed., April 6 The new name is part of an organization-wide rebranding effort announced two years ago so all locations throughout Wisconsin are identified with the same name. The change officially happens when the new exterior signs are installed.

Demolition of Vacant Shawano Medical Center Starts April 4

Demolition of the vacated Shawano Medical Center at 309 Bartlett Street will begin today, April 4, said John Gijsen, director of facilities management system locations for ThedaCare. In March, the Shawano Common Council approved the plan from ThedaCare to demolish the structure at its own expense after multiple redevelopment efforts for the existing building fell through.

Waupaca Alumnus Back Home

Cassie Glodowski enjoys being back at her old alma mater, Waupaca High School. But instead of hanging out as a teenager, she is the school’s athletic trainer, employed by ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca. “It’s awesome,” said Glodowski, 25. “It was one of my goals from the beginning to work in the sports medicine program.”

Wild Rose Swing Bed Program Transitions Patients from Hospital to Home

In today’s healthcare industry, hospitals and doctors are treating patients and always keeping in mind first the needs of the patient and then the insurance and or Medicare rules and regulations. What does one do when they are released from the hospital three days after a knee or hip replacement, or after treated for a fall? Many patients are not able to return to their home immediately after being released from the hospital. They require additional care and therapy and often there is not a caregiver at home to provide the care they require.

Shawano Patients to Leave Hospital with Prescriptions In Hand

Next month pharmacists at ThedaCare Pharmacy-Shawano will provide inpatients at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano with their outpatient medications before they leave the hospital. The pharmacy, located inside ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano clinic, will launch the Meds-to-Bed program at the adjacent hospital. Meds-to-Beds is a newly developed system modeled after successful programs in larger hospitals, including Froedtert in Milwaukee.

ThedaCare today announced that Theda Clark Medical Center becomes ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah on Wed., March 23. The new name is part of an organization-wide rebranding effort announced nearly two years ago so all locations throughout Wisconsin are identified with the same name.
