Residents of the new 37-bed Juliette Manor, 482 Oak Street in Berlin, move in on Thursday, June 9. The new facility replaces the Juliette Manor that has been in the downtown Berlin location since 1964. It was the original Berlin Hospital built in 1935.

ThedaCare announced changes to its management teams today at Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital and ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca to align the organizations for the future. Craig Kantos will become the CEO for both the Wild Rose and Waupaca campuses. Dawn Shuman, RN, will shift from her role as CEO at Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital to become the Director of Nursing and Patient Care for both Wild Rose and Waupaca hospitals.
ThedaStar Air Medical will celebrate its 30th anniversary during a June 8 Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Game at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.

When the first call came in to ThedaStar on June 6, 1986, I am sure the process of a helicopter response and information gathering was totally different than the process today. Think for a minute … you have a motor vehicle crash and need to pinpoint coordinates for a scene. This was accomplished the only way they were able to: with an aviation chart map. There were no advanced computer systems to find this information, like today. You would log the call by hand, writing the information in a logbook.

Coming into a hospital can be nerve-wracking. A visitor might be nervous about a pending procedure or may feel overwhelmed with the idea of having to navigate their way around a new place. But the lobby escorts at ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca are happy to help, alleviating any fears with a smile and welcoming presence
Effective Saturday, May 28, Walk-In Care at ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano will change its weekend hours to Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 5 pm. Current weekend walk-in hours are 10 am to 6 pm. Weekday hours remain Monday-Friday 8 am to 7 pm. Patients must be registered 15 minutes prior to closing time to be seen that day. Traci Berry, ThedaCare practice administrator in Shawano, said the clinic staff evaluates patient needs based on the time they arrive and register. Having an earlier start time on weekend mornings will better meet patient demand.

Recently ThedaCare in Berlin added Midwife Shelly Weisheipl, RN, MSN, CNM to its medical staff. She is at home at Berlin and is at ease in her role in women’s healthcare because she previously worked as a registered nurse in the Berlin Memorial Hospital obstetrics and birth care unit.
