A sports enthusiast, I cannot wait to watch the 2018 Winter Olympic Games when they roll around every four years. I love seeing the athletes’ achievements – even the non-medal winners – and the pride they take in representing their country.
Dr. Koellermeier was not scheduled that day but she came in. Once I saw her face and everyone started prepping, it was all very reassuring. The whole experience was just so hard but so worth it.

I was five weeks post-partum and it was a typical Saturday of running errands and working around the house with my husband, Luke. I went out to the garage to get something and didn’t return. Luke found me unconscious across the threshold. He had taken CPR certification through work, so after putting the baby in his seat and calling 911, he administered CPR.

As we discussed our ideas for the upcoming Olympic Games, I asked the question of a group of high school students who are helping me: “What inspires you to help with our ice skating club?” The response one student gave was, “The kids inspire me. They fall so much, but they always get up.”

Once at the hospital, I underwent more tests. It was determined I needed catheterization and a stent which they inserted that very afternoon. The whole experience was terrific. I never had any real pain, just discomfort, and the communication throughout the stay was so helpful.
