The 4th Annual Mission of Hope will be at 10 a.m. on Sat., Aug. 22 at Bernegger Riverwalk Park, downtown New London. Free services include haircuts, groceries, family portraits, health services and a job fair. There will also be entertainment and a kids’ zone.
The triathlon kicks off at 7 a.m. at South Park. The long course consists of a half mile swim, 20 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. The short course consists of a quarter mile swim, 12 mile bike and 2 mile run. Also, new this year is an intermediate relay course for kids 11 to 15: quarter mile swim, 12 mile bike and 2 mile run.
ThedaCare is holding several free gardening workshops at Appleton Medical Center’s new community garden.
A new ThedaCare Kids Fun Run will be part of the 8th Annual Reach the Peak Run at Nordic Mountain Ski Resort on Saturday, October 10 to help raise money for a local after school enrichment program.

Nearly two dozen boards, located in waiting rooms, hallways and gathering spaces such as the cafeteria, contain real life pictures of real people telling real stories.
Affinity Health System, ThedaCare, Neuroscience Group and Gold Cross Ambulance Service are teaming together with the Timber Rattlers to ensure a summer of safety for the Fox Cities. Two upcoming events will pair heart and brain health and the summer fun of baseball and farmer’s markets.
First Lady Michelle Obama, the WGBH Educational Foundation, the Department of Education, and the Department of Agriculture recently announced the winners of the 2015 Healthy Lunchtime Challenge, a nationwide recipe challenge to promote healthy lunches as part of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative. Wisconsin’s winning recipe was submitted by Anna Ganser, age 10, a sixth grade student this fall at Classical School in Appleton.
The 23rd annual CHN Golf Classic may have been postponed, but no worries, bigger and better things are planned for the new date of Wednesday, September 16th, 2015!
Cynthia Arnoldussen has been teaching CPR classes for over eight years in the Waupaca area and surrounding communities to those young and old. “These are critical life skills, arming students to save lives,” she said. “Everyone should have these skills.”
Candy Bandt of Wautoma is ready for the 2nd Annual Color Dash on Sat., July 11, which will raise money for iPads for special needs students in Waushara County. Bandt coordinated the event with the students in mind. She talked with teachers and learned about the need. “The schools don’t provide special needs students with iPads,” she said.
