Adults can learn about falls prevention and other tips at a free educational event from 9-11 a.m. on Thurs, Sept. 3 at the Waupaca Senior Center. “September is National Falls Prevention Month,” said Wiegman. “This is a free event open to all adults who want to learn how to prevent a fall and possible injury. Caregivers are highly encouraged to attend as well.”

The 4th Annual Mission of Hope will be at 10 a.m. on Sat., Aug. 22 at Bernegger Riverwalk Park, downtown New London. Free services include haircuts, groceries, family portraits, health services and a job fair. There will also be entertainment and a kids’ zone.
The triathlon kicks off at 7 a.m. at South Park. The long course consists of a half mile swim, 20 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. The short course consists of a quarter mile swim, 12 mile bike and 2 mile run. Also, new this year is an intermediate relay course for kids 11 to 15: quarter mile swim, 12 mile bike and 2 mile run.

First Lady Michelle Obama, the WGBH Educational Foundation, the Department of Education, and the Department of Agriculture recently announced the winners of the 2015 Healthy Lunchtime Challenge, a nationwide recipe challenge to promote healthy lunches as part of the First Lady’s Let’s Move! initiative.
