Every day, we watch news of tragedy and loss impacting people of all ages, almost in real time. These tragedies remind us all too clearly that bad things can happen, and the unvarnished truth is most people will experience some kind of trauma at least once in their lives. But it’s also empowering to know there are tools for coping if it happens.
The majority of teens between age 13 and 17 go on a hiatus from regular wellness visits during these years. Whereas their parents brought them in for well-child appointments and immunizations when they were younger, once puberty starts, I usually see my teen patients only if they are sick or need a required health screening.
Vertigo is a term used to label the symptom of the sensation of spinning or loss of balance. The perception may be that the surroundings are moving or that the actual person is moving. Vertigo is a distressing feeling often associated with nausea and vomiting.
Through it all, I received phenomenal care from the entire cancer care team—from my oncologist to my primary care physician, and everyone else along the journey. They allowed me to have a voice in my care and I felt listened to.

Because the influenza season is waning, ThedaCare leadership announces that on Saturday, March 31, it will lift the temporary restriction placed in early February not allowing children under the age of 12 to visit patients in all seven ThedaCare hospitals.
