I want to try things naturally first. Dr. Ken’s been so great about that. But at times, he will honestly say, for example, “Wren really needs an antibiotic.” And I know he’s doing what’s in the best interest of my kids because I know he respects that I prefer a more natural approach.

Members of the local Amish community use the ThedaCare healthcare services for many reasons. The Rural Health Initiative responds to questions and sets up care in the home if needed, such as blood pressure checks, or patient assistance for prescribed medications.
I was forced to depend on others but hated to ask. Then a friend said, “If you don’t ask someone for help, you’re denying them the opportunity for grace.” That was good advice as I started rehab right after surgery. The help they gave was phenomenal and the exercises they’ve taught me have worked really well.

Maggie Lund has been named the new chief human resources officer for ThedaCare. She comes to ThedaCare from Mercy Health in Cincinnati, where she was system vice president of human resources.
In recognition of National Nutrition Month this month, ThedaCare registered dietitian Lori Knapp encourages meal planning as a way to live healthier lives. “Meal planning helps us avoid the pitfall of convenience foods,” said Knapp, who works at ThedaCare Medical Center-New London.

Athletes of any age are ramping up for spring and summer sports. The off-season for many youth can leave them without a place to practice or a squad to scrimmage. After all, volleyball kids don’t have access to the gym during basketball season, and baseball kids can only dream of green grass in the midst of wintery weather. But now is the opportune time to make pre-season changes to your exercise, nutrition, and personal routines to increase your chance for a successful season.

She cares for patients with breast concerns, offering diagnostic breast ultrasound, minimally invasive breast procedures and breast surgery. She will be located at Encircle Health in Appleton.

During the past few years, I have noticed more teen athletes are turning to supplements to make themselves stronger, faster and have increased endurance. I appreciate they want to improve their athletic performance, but ingesting supplements is not the way to go since they may do more harm than good.
