Medicare Wellness Exam

If you are not a Medicare patient this information and discussion may not be of interest to you. But if you are a Medicare patient, I am going to try to explain what I know about the wellness exams that Medicare offers. This has been confusing to me and I think it is confusing to patients also. The federal government, who runs Medicare, has come up with a policy that offers “wellness” visits at no cost. The problem for patients and providers is defining what a wellness visit is.

New Construction Approved for CHN Juliette manor

Construction will begin this fall to replace the existing Juliette Manor facility in Berlin. On Tuesday, April 21, the ThedaCare Board of Directors gave final approval for the new construction.

Riverside Medical Center Fun Run Encourages Local Students

On May 2, about 70 Mighty Milers, including runners and family and friends, will once again join the community for the 29th Annual RMC Fun Run, which starts at Old Riverside School. Participants can choose between the 1 mile or 5K races or participate in both races. There is a team challenge of four members to a team as well as a costume contest and prizes.

Recognize the Causes and Symptoms of Congestive Heart Failure

Congestive heart failure occurs when the heart muscle doesn't pump blood as well as it should. Stephanie Yenter, cardiac and pulmonary rehab coordinator with ThedaCare said certain conditions, such as narrowed arteries in the heart (coronary artery disease) or high blood pressure, gradually leave the heart too weak or stiff to fill and pump efficiently. “The heart does not need to be weakened to cause heart failure,” she said. “It can become stiff.”

Make Eating Healthier Easier

There is no question there are numerous health benefits to eating fruits and veggies. They help reduce risk of chronic diseases, improve heath health, help with weight management and can protect against certain cancers and type 2 diabetes. The USDA has also recommended filling half a plate with fruits and vegetables during each meal.
