Expanding Access to Behavioral Health Services
Approximately 57 million adults in our country had a behavioral health condition, yet 70% did not receive treatment in 2017, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office. Among Wisconsin residents, the suicide rate increased by 40% from 2000 to 2017. Further, 92% of adults with a substance abuse condition do not receive needed care and although opioid prescribing rates are declining, overdose deaths are worsening. More recently, according to a survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during America’s shutdown – from April through June 2020, 40% reported feeling symptoms of anxiety or depression and 10% had considered suicide.

“As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the increasing need for behavioral health support has been highlighted as a critical need in our community,” explained Julie Meyer Director of ThedaCare Behavioral Health. “ThedaCare continually looks for ways to enhance services as the needs of the communities change to provide the right care at the right place.”

In an effort to enhance access to needed services for the people in our region, ThedaCare is opening a Behavioral Health Walk-in Care clinic at ThedaCare Physicians-Neenah at 333 N. Green Bay Road, Neenah, WI 54956.

ThedaCare Behavioral Health Walk-in Care-Neenah is a walk-in outpatient clinic for adults 18+ who have an immediate behavioral health need. The clinic will provide screening, assessment, counseling, referrals and scheduling for outpatient psychiatric services, short-term treatment, and discharge planning and care management. Virtual health services will also be available.

The clinic will be open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you or a loved one is struggling with mental health concerns, ThedaCare is here to provide the care and support you need. For more information, please call 1-833-BHWLKIN (1.833.249.5546)

“Get Care Now”
ThedaCare is committed to protecting the health and safety of our neighbors. Delaying care can have serious consequences — particularly in the event of an emergency, like heart attack or stroke. Symptoms of these and other conditions should never be ignored or disregarded; ThedaCare teams are always prepared to provide lifesaving interventions while protecting patients from COVID-19.

Preventive care is equally important to us. To help protect patients and providers alike, enhanced safety protocols are in place for all ThedaCare facilities, including visitor restrictions and check-in screenings. Anyone presenting respiratory symptoms is safely isolated and COVID-19 patients receive care in our dedicated respiratory hub clinics. These steps, along with increased cleaning and appropriate use of PPE, make it possible for us to provide the care you need for any condition.

ThedaCare is also doing everything we can to make care more accessible — whether or not you feel comfortable visiting one of our facilities. In addition to offering more appointments and enhancing safety for in-person care, we’ve also expanded our virtual health services, including video visits, eVisits and a free, online symptom checker for COVID-19 screening. Virtual care options are available for primary, specialty and even urgent care needs, and are a convenient way to connect with a provider from the comfort of your own home.
