Screenings Held June 24 at Encircle Health

ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center in Appleton and Dr. Kevan Lewis, NEW Dermatology Group LTD, will offer free skin cancer screenings on Sat., June 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Encircle Health, 2500 E. Capitol Drive, Appleton.

“It is estimated that around 76,000 people were newly diagnosed with skin cancer last year in the United States,” said Dr. Lewis. “Although skin cancer is the most common form of cancer and can affect anyone of any age, males and people over the age of 40 are at an increased risk. Other risk factors include smoking, having a family history of skin cancer, a high mole count, fair skin and significant exposure to sunlight or indoor tanning beds.”

“Most skin cancers are curable if they are detected early enough, and that’s why we encourage anyone who has these risk factors to receive a yearly skin screen,” he said. “We will offer a free, private screening for skin cancer to anyone who has a concern and no previous skin cancer diagnosis.”

Advance registration is required for the free screening; people should call ThedaCare On Call at 920.830.6877 or 800.236.2236 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each person must register separately.
