Expanding Surgery Care in Berlin

ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin Now Providing Additional Surgery Options, Close to Home

ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin is now offering expanded surgery care to communities. Care teams at the new surgery clinic began offering services to patients on

Nov. 6, 2023. Clinic hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“At ThedaCare, we strive to provide exceptional care close to home,” said Tammy Bending, Vice President of Critical Hospital Operations at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin. “We understand that every community has its own unique characteristics and needs, and we believe people deserve high-level, comprehensive care wherever they choose to live.”

Bending also noted the new surgery clinic at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin can help reduce the need to travel long distances to receive pre- and post-operative care.

“We’re thrilled to provide this new service for the people of Berlin and surrounding communities,” said Bending. “For the people we serve, this means less time away from work and other priorities. Offering surgery close to home can also allow patients to be near family and friends, which can lead to improved recovery.”

Specialty care offerings in Berlin include general surgery, podiatry, OB-GYN, neuro-spine procedures through Neuroscience Group, urology, dermatology, oncology, neurology, orthopedic care, sports medicine, cardiology, nephrology, sleep medicine, pain management, and ear, nose, and throat care.

Since 2021, ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin has offered robotic surgery. This type of procedure can offer many benefits to patients, including shorter hospital stays, fewer complications, and faster recovery times.

Robotic surgery can offer a quicker path to returning to what matters most. The new clinic will make receiving care even more convenient. Depending on individual circumstances, that may mean relieving the burden of taking time off of work or needing to find child care.

“We’re excited to open our clinic location in Berlin,” said Dr. Jeffrey Burkett, a General Surgeon with Surgical Associates of Neenah. “For the past several years, we have been partnering with ThedaCare to expand general surgical services at all four rural hospital locations. This allows us to better serve all of those communities and provide convenient surgical care closer to home.”

The surgery clinic is the latest offering at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin. In 2021, an expanded emergency department opened at the hospital. The larger space allows the hospital to serve more people. The facility also includes features designed to meet the needs of the communities served.
