ThedaCare leaders are pleased to announce that Dirk H. Steinert, MD, MBA, will join the organization as Chief Medical Officer of Ambulatory Care. In this role, Dr. Steinert will lead the ThedaCare Provider Network employed physician group. As such, he will work to align clinical and operational outcomes to enhance access to care for those living Northeast and Central Wisconsin.

After graduating high school, Dr. Steinert spent time in Germany as an exchange student. When he returned to the United States, he attended Lake Forest College to study German and Chemistry. After graduating from college, he spent a year conducting research in immunology and oncology while applying to medical school. He later attended the University of Illinois in Chicago, College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Tulane University in New Orleans. He also obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Certificate in Managing Health Care Delivery from Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining ThedaCare, Dr. Steinert served as the Medical Director, Quality, Specialty Care with Ascension Medical Group. He held various leadership positions throughout his time with the organization. Dr. Steinert is also a Fellow with the American College of Physician and American Academy of Pediatrics. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

Dr. Steinert will join ThedaCare on July 17, 2023.
