Trying to Bring a Smile Makes Each Day Better

Someone once said, “Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile.” For Wanda Kuettel, that’s her life motto and she makes a point of trying to make everyone smile every day.

Someone once said, “Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile.” For Wanda Kuettel, that’s her life motto and she makes a point of trying to make everyone smile every day. “I work in the orthopedic area and many of the patients are uncomfortable, so I try to make their days just a little brighter.”

Before joining the environmental services area of ThedaCare three years ago, Wanda worked in the shipping and receiving department in a paper mill for more than two decades. Her mother has volunteered at ThedaCare for 12 years and suggested that Wanda apply for a job with the company. She did and today she can’t imagine being anywhere else.

“The nurses and people who work here are just wonderful,” said Wanda. “It’s an open atmosphere and everyone respects each other. Our focus is helping the patients. I look forward to coming to work every morning and every day I leave knowing I helped someone. It’s a great feeling.”

Wanda’s can-do attitude is apparent to everyone around her and she credits her mother for these words of wisdom, “when you find your niche, you’ll know.” Wanda has found her niche, helping make life a little easier each and every day for the patients and staff at ThedaCare.
