Accountable Care Organization Recognized for Sixth Year in a Row
The ThedaCare Accountable Care Organization (ACO) was named one of Becker’s Healthcare’s 110 ACOs to Know for the sixth year in a row.
An ACO is a healthcare organization that ties Medicare payments to quality metrics and the cost of care. ThedaCare ACO, which is led by medical director Dave Krueger, MD, and operations director Don Waldrop, was recognized previously in 2015 and 2016 and as part of the Bellin-ThedaCare Healthcare Partners ACO from 2012 to 2014.
ACO models have grown over the past several years to develop value-based care for individuals across the country. According to Leavitt Partners, there were 923 active ACOs in the United States covering more than 32 million patients at the end of the first quarter of 2017.
The Becker’s Healthcare editorial team selected ThedaCare and other ACOs on the list based on quality and cost performance, advanced tracks of the Medicare Shared Savings Program and the innovative nature of commercial agreements.
