Thank You Our Community Doctors

National Doctors’ Day is a chance to express appreciation for doctors’ extraordinary roles in serving and caring for their patients, families and communities. This Doctors’ Day is particularly special for me as it’s my last before retiring as ThedaCare President and CEO, moving away from full-time healthcare leadership.

I was a physician long before I came into healthcare administration, and as I reflect on why I went into medical school and what has motivated me as a physician and a leader, I bet they’re the same things that drive my physician colleagues in the community to deliver exceptional care each day. A starting list might be:

  • To learn about the human mind and body to satisfy my intellectual curiosity
  • To use my God given gifts to the fullest to help people in need, and
  • To prevent or minimize illness and disease so people could lead high quality and fulfilling lives for as long as possible.

Too often, the tireless work of physicians and clinical caregivers can seem to go unnoticed. So, today I want to shout a collective “Thank You” from the roof!

I’ve been so blessed to work with so many doctors over the years. I have valued their insights on our community’s health needs, their candor and innovation in finding workable solutions, and their commitment to improving the health and well-being of all we serve.

Thank you, friends, for everything you do each day. It has been a privilege to practice beside you, and I wish you continued joy in this great calling of ours!
