New Medicare Advantage plans now available in Wisconsin

Collaboration offers affordable health plan options to Medicare consumers

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN Bellin Health and ThedaCare are collaborating with Minnesota-based HealthPartners to offer new Medicare Advantage plans. The plans will give residents in northeast and central Wisconsin more options when selecting a Medicare health plan this fall.

The new plans are part of Robin with HealthPartners, a collaboration between the three non-profit organizations who share a mission of helping people live healthier lives through access to expert, local care. Robin brings together Bellin Health and ThedaCare’s high-quality network of local clinicians with a trusted health insurance provider, HealthPartners, to create health plan solutions for employers and consumers in Wisconsin.

“This can be a confusing time of year as consumers begin weighing their Medicare coverage options,” said Chris Woleske, president and CEO of Bellin Health. “Consumers are looking for care and health plan coverage from partners they know and trust, and that’s exactly what Robin offers. We’re excited to collaborate with ThedaCare and HealthPartners to offer Robin to the Medicare market.”

Imran Andrabi, MD, president and CEO of ThedaCare, added, “Our goal is to provide Medicare consumers in Wisconsin with high-value health plan options that meet their health and care needs at prices they can afford. Robin with HealthPartners plans help members access quality care in their communities and manage overall health care spending.”

Wisconsin consumers can enroll in Robin with HealthPartners Medicare Advantage plans during Medicare’s annual election period from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. Coverage will start Jan. 1, 2019.

Robin with HealthPartners Medicare Advantage plans offer consumers a full range of covered benefits and coordinated care. The plans also include travel benefits, routine vision and hearing exams, gym membership or home fitness kits, convenient online care and other programs to help members get and stay healthy.

“Our collaboration brings new choices for seniors that are designed to make care and coverage easy to access and affordable,” said Andrea Walsh, president and CEO of HealthPartners. “Supporting our members’ health and well-being is our top priority.”

About the plans

Consumers eligible for Medicare and living in the Wisconsin 15-county service area can choose from two Robin Medicare Advantage plans:

  • HealthPartners® Robin Birch (PPO), a $0 premium/month plan

  • HealthPartners® Robin Maple (PPO), a $20 premium/month plan

What is Medicare Advantage?

Medicare Advantage plans, sometimes called Medicare Part C, are offered by private companies approved by Medicare. Medicare pays these companies to cover Medicare benefits.

Medicare Advantage plans combine Medicare Part A (hospital), Part B (medical) and Part D (prescription drug) coverage into one plan. The plans typically have low or $0 monthly premiums.

A Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan is a type of Medicare Advantage plan. In a PPO, beneficiaries pay less to use doctors, hospitals and other health care providers that are in the plan’s network. Both Robin with HealthPartners Medicare Advantage plans are PPOs.
