Recognized for Serving Its Purpose Well
Juliette Manor, operated by ThedaCare, recently earned an Honor Award from the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The state-of-the-art, 50-bed skilled nursing facility opened in June 2017. It welcomes rehabilitation patients and has a memory care unit in addition to short- and long-term care units.
The Honor Award recognizes Juliette Manor for its overall design excellence for meeting the project’s potential and optimizing the building’s design so that it serves its residents in the best possible way. Hammel, Green and Abrahamson (HGA) Architects of Milwaukee designed Juliette Manor, with The Boldt Company leading construction.
“Winning this award is quite an honor given the number of projects completed throughout Wisconsin in 2017, and the number of those projects that were submitted for award consideration,” said Glenn Buntin, director of design and construction for ThedaCare. “Achieving this recognition is a testament to the vision, dedication, and perseverance of the project team and our vendor partners, HGA Architects and The Boldt Company, working with Tina Marchan, the administrator of Juliette Manor.”
Distinguished architects from outside of Wisconsin judged the entries. The projects are not judged in competition with each other, but rather by measuring the architect’s performance against each project’s potential. In that way, ordinary projects or those of modest budgets can receive an award based on the architect’s skill in optimizing the design opportunity.
Nine building projects were recognized for excellence in architectural design for 2018 by AIA Wisconsin. The Awards Presentation and a display of the winning projects were featured at the 2018 AIA Wisconsin Conference on Architecture on May 9 and 10 at the Monona Terrace Community & Convention Center in Madison.
