ThedaCare At Work These are doctors nurses who genuinely care

As an Emergency Medical Technician with the Grand Chute Fire Department, Robert knows the value of a rapid response to a serious injury. He was on a medical call, and as he lifted an injured patient, he felt a pain in his back, and one of his feet went numb. Suddenly, he was a patient. He reported the injury to his commanding officer.

Fortunately the Fire Department uses ThedaCare At Work as its primary healthcare provider. In addition to performing annual physicals and other routine services, ThedaCare At Work also is a first responder of sorts for on-the-job injuries. A short time after reporting his injury, Robert was evaluated at the fire station by a ThedaCare doctor, who quickly recognized its severity and referred him to a spine and back clinic for treatment. Robert underwent back surgery for a herniated disk, and has since recovered and returned to work.

“ThedaCare At Work is a great thing to have,” he said. “They do our annual physicals, drug testing and provide other services, so you get to know them and they get to know you. When an injury happens, you’re not talking to people you’ve never met before. These are doctors and nurses who genuinely care for you as patients and as people.”
