The Mission of Hope is a local group that aims to serve those in need in New London. Services like free health care screenings, haircuts and groceries are available as well as information about services to further help those get a hand up.

Staff from ThedaCare Physicians-New London will be participating in the event’s second year, providing health services like free blood pressure checks and handing out information on colorectal  screening and breast cancer screening. ThedaCare has also provided monetary donations of $500 this year and last.

Cheryl Seeling, practice administrator, said ThedaCare looks forward to participating in the event on Saturday, August 24 at Vernegger River Walk on Wolf River Avenue in downtown New London. “ThedaCare’s mission is to provide health care to our community,” she said. “This is an extension of our mission, being able to work in our local community, serving with other community members, to offer residents services that normally they wouldn’t be able to afford.”

There is no fee to participate in the event. Lori Prahl, the mother of Brooke, then 18 last year, who coordinated the entire event, said sponsors like ThedaCare make Mission of Hope possible. “Our community has been very generous in reaching out to people in need and serving together,” she said.
