When Aimee starts her day, prepping and serving breakfast and lunch to residents at The Heritage and Peabody Manor, she has a big smile on her face. The reason for the smile? Hands down, the residents.
Aimee is a dietary aid and has worked at the ThedaCare-operated senior living and assisted residences for more than a year. “Seeing the residents makes my day,” said Aimee. “They have fun stories to tell. They’re like living history books, sharing their experiences and wisdom with me and everyone who works there. It is a joy to be around them.”
One resident, Bev, has especially touched her heart. “She has taken an interest in me and my life,” continued Aimee. “She asks me about my child and my family – and she’s genuinely a caring person. I even come in on my days off to visit with her. She has such a sweet personality.”
Prior to joining ThedaCare she managed a gas station for a family member for several years, and this is certainly a change of pace, in the best possible way. “I honestly love my job,” said Aimee. “My managers have been so supportive. If I need time off for family, they work with me to find the best solution. Plus, I have good health care and a plan for retirement.
“The work is rewarding and I enjoy my co-workers, but I feel like I got the best end of the deal, being around the residents who really appreciate everything we do.”
