'Light Up the Night for Hospice’ Set for Aug. 20 in Waupaca

The Community Hospice Foundation will host its eighth-annual “Light Up the Night for Hospice” to benefit hospice patients in the Waupaca area. The proceeds from the event will benefit the Pet Therapy Program in Waupaca and the surrounding communities, said Cindy Stuedemann, development assistant, Community Hospice Foundation.

“Pet therapy is a ‘remember when’ moment for many of our patients,” said Christine Faulks, pet therapy coordinator. “They see our dogs, pet them, and memories of happier times seem to revisit their thoughts. It seems that our therapy dogs rekindle fond memories of the patient's own pets and often times a name or story about their beloved pet is shared.”

Light Up the Night for Hospice will take place on August 20 at the Waupaca Ale House-White Tent starting at 6 p.m. and include heavy appetizers and decadent desserts. The evening will conclude with a luminary release in memory of loved ones and friends.

Tickets are $50 per person for the event. Luminaries can be purchased for $10 each in memory of a loved one. To purchase tickets, please call the Community Hospice Foundation at (920) 738-6503.
