Auxiliary at ThedaCare Medical Center-New London Trying New Fundraiser

The Auxiliary at ThedaCare Medical Center-New London is hoping book lovers also have a sweet tooth. The Auxiliary will host a bake sale in addition to a book sale on Mon., April 4. “Bake sales always seem to go well,” said Barbara Gruening, president, noting bake sale success during the annual fall Bazaar.

For the last three years, the Auxiliary had hosted just a book sale, utilizing the Books R Fun organization. Book sales were held in the fall and spring. Book titles included fiction and non-fiction titles, cook books, children’s books, craft kits and more.

The Auxiliary wanted to switch things up this time by offering the sale of baked goods such as pies, cookies, donuts, bars, breads and more. “It’s all homemade,” said Gruening, noting auxiliary members will donate the treats for sale.

All proceeds from the bake sale would be put toward the fund for one or two $1,000 scholarships the Auxiliary awards to a graduating senior pursuing a career in the healthcare field and attending a 2 or 4 year program. “We thought that would draw more sales if people knew it’s going for something specific,” she said, noting the Auxiliary gets a percentage of the book sales proceeds.

The bake sale and book sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 4 in the Pigeon Room and Wolf River Room.
