ThedaCare Staff Achieves 90% Childhood Vaccination Rate
ThedaCare announces ThedaCare Physicians-Manawa recently received the 2018 BigShots award from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). The award is presented annually to health care providers who vaccinate 90 percent or more of their young patients, based on immunization data collected by DHS. This is the second year in a row ThedaCare Physicians-Manawa has received this award.
ThedaCare Physicians-Manawa joins ThedaCare Physicians-Darboy among the 50 clinics statewide recognized for their efforts to promote vaccinations for young children in 2018. “Childhood vaccinations are critical to protecting our children and everyone around them from diseases like measles, mumps, rubella, and pertussis,” said State Health Officer Karen McKeown in 2017.
“We are very proud of the efforts of nurse practitioner Tina Bettin and her team of medical assistants at ThedaCare Physicians-Manawa for teaching the importance of childhood immunizations and achieving a 90 percent vaccination rate,” said Cheryl Seelig, practice administrator for the ThedaCare clinic group in the New London area, which includes ThedaCare Physicians-Manawa. “Promoting childhood immunization is directly in line with the ThedaCare mission to improve the health of the communities we serve. Making sure our children are immunized is an important step in achieving that mission,” Seelig added.

Wisconsin’s DHS maintains up-to-date records of immunization for all children in the state, as reported by health-care providers. Parents can find out which vaccinations their children need and at what ages on the Wisconsin Immunization Program webpage. They also can keep track of the shots their children have had, and shots they may still need, through the Wisconsin Immunization Registry.
