Safety, Timeliness, Effectiveness, Efficiency, Equity, and Patient-Centeredness was Scored
ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano is a winner of the 2017 Vizient Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award. The award recognizes ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano for demonstrating superior quality and safety performance as measured by the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, which has been conducted annually since 2005. The award was presented on Thurs., Sept. 14 during the 2017 Vizient Clinical Connections Summit in Denver.

This year, 107 academic medical centers and 161 community hospitals were included in the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study. The study helps academic medical centers and community hospitals identify structures and processes that deliver high quality and safety across a broad spectrum of patient care activity. It measured performance based on six domains of care: safety, timeliness, effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and patient-centeredness. The composite scoring system uses patient-level performance data from a variety of sources, including Vizient databases, the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network.
