Tap Internal Experts to Build Organizational Strength
The greatest asset of any organization is its people. Recruiting and empowering a team of experts creates a strong organization; one that continually creates better outcomes for its customers.
Experts tend to be natural competitors who strive to become better every day. They are a powerhouse of energy and intelligence who have the capacity to rise as champions of an organization’s mission when systems are in place to engage and enable them. Over time, I’ve learned three key ways to optimize the strength of these influential people:
Create a meaningful feedback loop. Most people are motivated to do good work. They crave regular and meaningful feedback and are willing to respond, grow and improve. As a leader, ensure you acknowledge both their human impact and their technical expertise.
Don’t sit on the data. Be willing to present radically new and insightful information to illustrate the current lay of the land. Your experts will be intrigued to uncover innovative ways to invest in accomplishing your shared mission.
Inspire leadership. Engage your experts in a manner that is significant to them. Recognize and value their knowhow. Motivate them to step beyond their customary roles and lead.
