Completion Scheduled for 2016

With plans to open in 2016, construction of the ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center is underway. The Boldt Co. construction team broke ground on the $44 million project near Encircle Health on Capitol Drive in Appleton.

“Managing cancer in one, central location is respectful of patients’ time and energy,” said Matthias Weiss, MD and PhD., hematology and oncology physician for ThedaCare Cancer Care. “The Regional Cancer Center demonstrates our commitment to caring for individuals with cancer and their families. Integrating cancer services at one location will make it easier for patients to maintain their daily routines and family life while going through treatment.”

The Regional Cancer Center will serve as the home base for the ThedaCare premier cancer program, which is focused on respecting patients and their families by honoring their choices, bringing a team of top-talent care providers to the table, and offering a broad range of treatments, services, and resources. At the Regional Cancer Center, patients will access the latest technologies, including promising new treatments through participation in clinical trials, as well as the ThedaCare network of cancer care physicians and support staff.

“At the Regional Cancer Center, patients and families will experience truly personal care,” said Stacy Milam, director of cancer services for ThedaCare. “There, they will experience our premier cancer care program, and an expert team that taps into its know-how in complex care to skillfully and compassionately take burdens off patients’ and families’ shoulders. Whether a patient needs complicated medical treatment, emotional support, financial guidance or more, we’ll bring those resources to the table. It’s exciting to think that hundreds of thousands of people will now have access to the best cancer care north of Milwaukee.” The project is the special focus of the ThedaCare Family of Foundations, and its Connect campaign. The campaign supports the ThedaCare Cancer Care program’s commitment to helping individuals with cancer, and their families.
