Oshkosh Clinic Only One Opening for Sports Physicals, Well Child Visits
Families facing a time crunch to get in sports physicals and well child visits before the start of the upcoming school year have a new and unique option: ThedaCare Physicians-Oshkosh is offering special Saturday appointments.
Pediatrician Andrew Collins, MD, will see patients needing well-child visits or sports physicals from 9 a.m. to noon on the following Saturdays: Aug. 2, Aug. 16, Aug. 23, and Sept. 13.
Dr. Collins said doctors’ offices can be busy at this time of year since high school athletes need physicals before they can begin practice and some children need physicals or immunizations before starting school.
“I’m offering these appointments to give busy parents more options,” he said. “At this time of year, there is a high demand for children’s physicals – whether it’s for school, sports or just regularly scheduled check-ups. It can be hard to find an available time during the week when parents are working so I just wanted to give them more opportunities to find a time that works for them.”
Becky Braman of Oshkosh brought in her three children for well-child physicals on a Saturday in early July and appreciated the option. “It was handy. I respect that Dr. Collins was working around the family’s schedule,” she said. “I had called for orthodontic care and they did not offer appointments after school or on weekends. How do you justify pulling a child out of school or a parent leaving work?”
