Paul Burney, MD, to Offer Adult Care Services
ThedaCare Behavioral Health is pleased to welcome Paul Burney, MD, to the team as a psychiatrist. Dr. Burney specializes in adult mental health.
Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Burney has particular interest in mood and psychotic disorders as well as treating military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He received his undergraduate degree at the University of South Dakota and earned his medical degree through the Army’s Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Burney served in the Army for 15 years and was deployed to Iraq in 2003. Throughout his education and training, he received multiple military awards and was named the chief resident as well as the psychiatry resident of the year by Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
Dr. Burney is married to his high school sweetheart and comes to ThedaCare after holding the roles of medical director and adult psychiatrist at Bellin Health Systems of Green Bay. He is a careful listener who aims to treat the whole patient instead of just the illness. In his spare time, Dr. Burney enjoys movies, hiking and bicycling.
