Iola Nurse Practitioner Cherishing Good Memories

Fran Rademacher Discontinuing Iola Practice, Others to Serve Patients

Fran Rademacher will have many memories about his time at ThedaCare Physicians-Iola. The strongest memory is of how friendly the community is. A walk through the waiting room, where patients are talking comfortably with one another, was much like walking into a living room at a person’s home, he said. “You could tell the people have been coming there for a long time and have a strong connection,” said Rademacher, a nurse practitioner at Iola for over 10 years. “The people are so great. I hate to leave Iola.”

Rademacher is going part-time with ThedaCare and discontinuing his Iola practice. But he knows the people of Iola will be in good hands with his replacement, Stephanie Doine, APNP, who has over 20 years of experience and is a retired Army Nurse Corps officer. Nurse practitioners Heather Gruszynski and Joy Kobiske continue to serve patients in Iola. “I think Stephanie will be well received,” he said. “She seems like she would enjoy it. And she certainly enjoys people.”

When he started in Iola, he worked three days a week at the clinic, which had another nurse practitioner and a couple physicians. He was also working in Waupaca during the week so eventually he went to Friday mornings in Iola. “I was so busy in Waupaca that it was actually a little hard to have so much work at two sites,” he said, noting he will continue to practice in Waupaca three days a week.

Doine is excited to meet the patients in Iola. Over the summer, she bought a house in Iola. She also works at the Waupaca clinic. She feels patients deserve quality care and attention. “I care for patients as if they were my own family members or how I would like my family to be cared for,” she said.

Now that she has moved to the area, Doine looks forward to the “opportunity to care for people within the community that I reside,” she said.
