ThedaCare At Home Store Fills Community Need

When Waupaca area residents need a specific medical product like compression stockings or a piece of equipment like a nebulizer, convenience is important.

Wide Variety of Home Healthcare Products Available

When Waupaca area residents need a specific medical product like compression stockings or a piece of equipment like a nebulizer, convenience is important.

The ThedaCare At Home retail location inside ThedaCare Medical Center- Waupaca provides patients with easy access to a variety of home medical equipment and healthcare products, said retail supervisor Patti Herring. It is the only Waupaca area retail location that offers a full line of durable medical equipment, respiratory equipment and supplies.

“We are easily accessible, whether patients are coming from a clinic, hospital setting or walking in from the community. When their doctor orders a medical device, customers can just come in and pick it up,” Herring said. “Customers can get what they need right here in the community and not worry about having to travel outside the community.”

ThedaCare At Home opened its first Waupaca store on Main Street in 2007. In 2010, the location moved into the Waupaca hospital, which improved customer access, Herring said. “Many people come in and are relieved they can get what their doctor recommended before leaving the Waupaca campus,” she said.

ThedaCare At Home provides a wide variety of medical equipment products within the retail location. The setting allows customers to come in and see and touch the products to determine what products best meet their needs, Herring said.

ThedaCare At Home medical equipment specialists and respiratory therapists are specially trained to assess customer needs and help them find the right product and right fit, such as with mobility aids, bath aids, orthopedic braces and supports, along with respiratory and sleep products, said Randy Lutz, manager of ThedaCare At Home. “It is all about ease and how we can best serve our customers,” he said.

Herring said staff members can also advise customers on the best way to care for their products.

Many of the products provided are cash and carry, but, where applicable, the customer’s insurance, can also be billed. While most products are purchase type items, ThedaCare At Home also offers rental products such as wheelchairs, hospital beds and oxygen devices.

“Our goal is to fulfill a need in the community and to provide what the customer needs to be comfortable, safe and independent at home, whether it is a hospital bed or a bili blanket for a baby with jaundice,” Lutz said.

The ThedaCare At Home store is open from Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m.
