Waupaca Registered Dietician Dispels Myths about Sugar
Sugar is often hidden in foods. People can learn how to cut down on everyday sugar consumption at “Sugar and Artificial Sweeteners,” a presentation that will help participants make healthy food choices.
“There’s so much sugar in everything we’re eating,” said Anne Menzies, MS, RD, CDE, BC-ADM, of ThedaCare Physicians-Waupaca. “It’s hidden in everything.”
Menzies hopes to dispel myths about sugar, the different kinds of sugars, including high fructose corn syrup, and artificial sweeteners. “The take home message will be to just eat real food,” she said. “We will focus on choosing the whole or real foods verses processed foods.”
This free, 90-minute educational program begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thurs., April 18, in the 900 Building, east of Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. Participants will also prepare a tasty treat that they are able to make at home.
