The Wolf River Sturgeon Shuffle is ready for its fourth year. “This is such an exciting event that will benefit the ThedaCare Medical Center-New London and the communities it serves,” said Heather Stern, executive director of the Wolf River Area Healthcare Foundation.
The 4th annual event, which is on April 26, is a 5-mile and 2-mile road run/walk for all athletes, from serious racers to those who want to go the distance.
New this year is a 5 Mile Team Challenge. “Racers can form a team of four and show their support for an active lifestyle and help lead the way for a healthier community,” said Stern, noting that awards will be given to the teams with the lowest combined team times and best team costumes.
The route takes runners and walkers along the Sturgeon Trail. All proceeds raised benefit the Wolf River Area Healthcare Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports ThedaCare Medical Center-New London and the communities it serves. Last year the event raised $18,500. The goal for this year is $22,000.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. at New London Middle School and the race starts at 9:30 a.m.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers of the 5 Mile run/walk in each age division and for the 2 Mile, awards will be given to the top five male and female runners overall.
