Event Helps Parents Remember Lost Babies

Losing a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn birth can be devastating to parents. A Sun., June 2, event will provide parents with the opportunity to celebrate their child’s memory.

Special Gathering will be held June 2 at Gardens of the Fox Cities

Losing a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn birth can be devastating to parents. A Sun., June 2, event will provide parents with the opportunity to celebrate their child’s memory.

ThedaCare’s Remembering Through Sharing Pregnancy Loss Program is sponsoring a free special event from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Gardens of the Fox Cities inside Appleton’s Memorial Park. Parents will participate in a number of activities, including decorating a bud vase or keepsake box from The Fire and receiving a massage offered by The Blue Sky School of Massage. Light refreshments will also be served and parents will have an opportunity to socialize with others facing the same challenge.

This is the third time Remembering Through Sharing has offered a spring event for parents. The group also sponsors a popular Walk to Remember and Annual Candlelight Memorial Service. Joan Heller, the Remembering Through Sharing Coordinator, said the spring event is designed for parents only and provides them with a special time to focus on their child.

“Our hope is that this afternoon event will help parents unwind and take a break from everything else going on in their lives,” she said. “We hope the weather will be nice and the parents can also go outside and enjoy the natural beauty of the gardens in addition to participating in the other activities.”

Parents interested in attending this special spring event can contact Heller at (920) 729-2087.
