Adult Level II Trauma Center at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah
When seconds matter, ThedaCare’s expert trauma team provides fast, lifesaving care with the specialized skills and resources needed to treat severe injuries.
ThedaCare offers a network of trauma care. ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah has been continuously verified as a Level II trauma center since 1998. This makes it the longest continuously verified Level II trauma center north of Milwaukee and Madison. Our Level II Trauma Center collaborates with our Level III Trauma Center at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton and our Level IV Trauma Centers at ThedaCare Medical Centers-Berlin, Waupaca, New London and Shawano. Through that collaboration and our work with our health network’s Emergency Departments, we provide exceptional care for people with traumatic injuries.
What Does “Level II” Mean?
Level II Trauma Centers are a vital link in the chain of trauma care. They provide immediate, high-quality care and support regional emergency response efforts. Level II refers to a classification in the trauma care system. It’s based on the capabilities and resources of a hospital or medical facility to treat trauma patients. Specialized teams, facilities, and equipment are available around the clock to treat life-threatening injuries.
It’s important to note that a trauma center differs from a hospital emergency department. While emergency services are essential, a trauma center offers a comprehensive, specialized trauma care program. A Level II trauma center must be equipped to provide complete care for all aspects of injury, from prevention to rehabilitation, and for injuries to any part of the body.
Programs and Services
Wound and Ostomy Care offers complete burn and wound care. Advanced wound and ostomy care is available at all ThedaCare hospitals other than Wild Rose. We offer both clinic-based and inpatient consultation services.
Our ThedaStar team transports critically ill or injured patients of all ages using both helicopters and ambulances. Since 1986, ThedaStar has completed more than 15,000 flights providing emergency medical transport services to communities across northeast and central Wisconsin.
We collaborate with various community organizations to help people prevent and respond to injuries. Our efforts include hosting fall awareness classes and training community members to handle emergencies. To create the biggest impact, the ThedaCare trauma program works to prevent injury and build awareness by focusing on the most common types of injury we see locally.
FOCUS Program
For more than two decades, the ThedaCare Trauma Center, with funding from the ThedaCare Foundation-Neenah and community support, has hosted an education program to empower students to make safe choices by shedding light on the dangers of risky driving behaviors and their often life-changing outcomes. The program was previously known as the P.A.R.T.Y. at the PAC. In 2020, it was renamed, FOCUS.
Schools interested in participating in the free FOCUS Program are encouraged to email TraumaServices@ThedaCare.org
