When Caught Early Preeclampsia Can Be Managed

Preeclampsia is a condition pregnant women develop and is marked by high blood pressure and a high level of protein in the urine. The women will often have swelling in the feet, legs and hands, a condition that appears in the second half of pregnancy. If undiagnosed, preeclampsia can develop into eclampsia, a serious condition that can put the woman and baby at risk, and in rare cases, cause death.

John Hedtke of Bear Creek said he has his life back, thanks to two bilateral shoulder replacement surgeries. “I feel great,” said Hedtke, 67. “I can cut wood. Anything I want to do I can do.”

Clintonville Man Grateful He Got a Colonoscopy

David Dunlavy of Clintonville does not like doctors, dentists or the like. Therefore, it took a lot of convincing from family, his family physician Kimberly Brown, MD, at ThedaCare Physicians-New London, and her nurse to get him to get a colonoscopy last August. “I probably wouldn’t have done it without some prodding,” said Dunlavy, 51. “I’m Irish and I’m stubborn.”

Fifth Disease

Recently there has been some concern raised about a possible outbreak of Fifth disease in the community. Fifth disease is a contagious illness that primarily affects school age children. It is generally a mild illness that resolves on its own and does not need any specific treatment.
