When Kirk Kallio’s mother was dying of pancreatic cancer in June 2016, he relied on a home hospice nurse to help offer his mother the best care. He soon discovered the reach of that service stretched beyond the care his mother received and impacted the family as a whole.
ThedaCare and Women’s Care of Wisconsin have announced plans to offer new gynecology care services to Shawano-area women beginning August 1. Therese Yarroch, MD, and Amy Zafarani, DO, both obstetrician/gynecologists of the Fox Valley-based Women’s Care of Wisconsin, will travel weekly to see patients at ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano and perform surgeries and procedures at the adjacent ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano.

Amanda Bernath, MD, of ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano, is profoundly shaped by her early experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in the West African country of Senegal. As a recent college graduate, she worked in remote communities for two years to care for pregnant mothers and young children and educate families about issues related to malaria and nutrition.
