Time is Now for Flu Shots

Cooler temperatures and changing leaves are not only signs that the seasons are changing, but also a reminder that influenza season is right around the corner. Flu – or as influenza is commonly called – is a respiratory illness with coughing, congestion, fever, aches and pains. The Centers for Disease Control recommends everyone over the age of 6 months receive a vaccination against influenza.

Would You Give an Hour to Save a Life

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is designed for the general public to enhance awareness and teach the warning signs of suicide. There is no cost. Early recognition of the warning signs and knowing the three simple steps saves lives. There will be a training on Monday, October 20 from 6pm – 7pm at the Masonic Center (520 N. Bridge Street) in Manawa.

ThedaCare Investing in Black Creek Clinic

Patients visiting ThedaCare Physicians-Black Creek will soon be greeted with an updated interior and an expanded care team. ThedaCare is replacing flooring throughout the clinic and also upgrading the clinic’s lab so staff members can better meet patients’ needs.

Screening Tool Catches Eye Problems Earlier

Testing the vision of young children can be a challenge, but a new screening device at ThedaCare Physicians-Pediatric clinics in Appleton and Neenah is making the process easier. Spot Vision can test a patient’s eyes in just a few seconds and doesn’t require the child’s cooperation like standard visual acuity charts do, said Luke Tremble, MD, a pediatrician at ThedaCare Physicians-Pediatrics in Appleton.

Heroin Summit

Community Health Network will be hosting a Heroin Summit at the Berlin High School Auditorium at 6:00 pm to address the growing problem of opiate use in our communities. The speakers will include the local police, recovering addicts, and a mother who lost her young daughter to a heroin overdose.

Weekend Hospitalist Completes Quality of Care for Hospital Patients

When patients are admitted into Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, they receive around the clock care from doctors, ranging from their primary care physician to a hospitalist like Dr. Gregrey Hiltgen, who recently took on the role of weekend hospitalist for ThedaCare/Riverside Medical Center.

Dinner Is On Us

A mobile pantry truck filled with vegetables, proteins, whole wheat pasta and recipes will drive to each location where volunteers will hand-deliver the food to people who request it. Food is limited and will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
