Zachary Baeseman, MD, MPH, is a family practice physician at ThedaCare Physicians-Waupaca, and he feels strongly about the benefits of getting to know his patients over the long term. As a primary care provider, or PCP, “I can live your history with you. I get to know about your family and your situation at home, even the typical triggers that can cause a serious illness for you or land you in the hospital.”
A ThedaCare rural hospital and a major service line received national honors for patient experience. ThedaCare Medical Center-New London has been named a 2014 Commitment to Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The Commitment to Excellence Award recognizes health care organizations that achieved continuous improvement in Patient Experience in HCAHPS (a measure of patient satisfaction)/Inpatient Care. ThedaCare Orthopedic Care was also given a Success Story Award.
Last year, ThedaCare™, announced the name change of New London Family Medical Center to ThedaCare Medical Center-New London. On Thursday, ThedaCare announced it will introduce its new system-wide brand identity next week in New London, further aligning the hospital and clinic with other ThedaCare facilities, helping patients better understand who ThedaCare is.

For the most part, during the school year, our children should be at school. The more time missed from school, the harder it will be for them to keep up with learning. There are times, however, when children should stay home from school. In general, these times fall into two categories.
Deer hunting tends to bring families and friends together for socializing, story-telling, and the opportunity to spend some time in the woods. This tradition depends on a healthy deer population. Chronic wasting disease or CWD is a threat to the deer herd. This year I haven’t heard much in the news about chronic wasting disease. It is still around and seems to be spreading slowly in certain areas. From a health perspective, do we need to be concerned?
